Route 34 runs Monday through Friday. Fares will follow the Dover FastTrans fare structure. Now just 50 cents!
On-Call Stops (Service Variations): You can use Route 34 to get to the COAST offices if you need to buy passes or have other business. There is a stop on 155 at the Irving gas station (Sumner Drive), and across the street at The New Meadows apartments to return to town. If you need to get right to our door, you can request a drop-off or pick-up to our office during business hours (Monday-Friday 8am to 5pm). The bus will only stop into the office going outbound, so you may have to wait an hour for the next run. Please plan accordingly.
Route 1/34 combination: To organize our services efficiently, the two buses that drive Route 1 each do a loop of Route 34 inbetween each Route 1 loop. In other words, when the Route 1 bus comes back from Somersworth, it becomes Route 34, and then goes back to Route 1 again, all day. However, because these are separate bus routes for separate purposes, passengers riding through both routes must pay both fares. That would be $2.00: $1.50 for Route 1, and $0.50 for Route 34. We treat this the same as changing between any other route.
6:19am to Portsmouth: The 6:19 Route 34 is operated by a COAST Trolley, which then becomes Route 2S at Dover Transportation, and finally starts the Trolley route at the Fox Run Mall. If you live on the Route 34 line and want to get directly to Portsmouth early in the morning, you can hop on that Route 34 "trolley" and stay on through to Portsmouth. Just remember that as above, you must pay 50 cents for Route 34 and $1.50 for Route 2.
