Gas line work in Portsmouth will necessitate a number of stop closures for Route 40 (Pease Trolley) starting on Monday, December 4 and expected to continue throughout the week. The detour will affect service in the outbound direction from approximately 7:00 AM until crews have finished work for the day. While the detour is in effect, all outbound stops on Islington Street will be closed, including Plaza 800. The stop at Bartlett St./Meredith Way will also be closed.
The expected service modifications are as follows:
- The 6:10 AM and 6:50 AM outbound runs of route 40 will run as normal.
- Beginning with the 7:20 AM departure of route 40 from Market Square, trolleys will turn right onto Maplewood Avenue and service the existing 2N bus stop at Maplewood Ave./Hanover St. before proceeding directly to the Dennett St./Woodbury Ave. bus stop. Trolleys will depart from Dennett Street no earlier than three (3) minutes after their normally scheduled departure times from Plaza 800 and continue as normal from there.
- When work is completed for the day (early to mid-afternoon), trolleys will immediately resume regular service to all stops. COAST will post service updates on Twitter as conditions change during the day.
Please note that the detour is in the outbound direction only - inbound service will run normally.
